Krystle Lappinen

Krystle Lappinen was born in war-torn Beirut, Lebanon on March 14th, 1982, within five months of Saint Mother Theresa of Calcutta traveling to Beirut, Lebanon and praying a cease-fire into place. Krystle spent the first three years of her life hiding from the bombs in underground basements with her family. In 1985, Krystle’s father moved their family to the United States of America after a telephone call threatening to take their lives. Krystle grew up in Norfolk, Virginia and was raised Catholic, attending church every Sunday. Temporarily overcoming her struggles with earthly distractions, she eventually got into medical school, where she both became a Board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist and met her husband Erik Lappinen. She graduated from medical school and in May of 2009, and in that same month married Erik. Shortly after starting residency, the earthly distractions she battled with her whole life led her to seek treatment with Adderall a medication used for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Throughout residency and for the next 13 years of her life, her struggles with guilt related to her sin of marital infidelity, and her becoming addicted to Adderall, alcohol, and cigarettes, led her to a place of despair. In 2 Corinthians 12:9 Jesus says my power works best in weakness. In her state of utter despair she started to feel drawn to dig deeper into what she was vaguely familiar with through going to church on Sundays, the mystery of how Jesus died on the cross for the forgiveness of all the sins of mankind.  Saint Therese of Lisieux says, “Receive communion often, very often…. there you have the sole remedy, if you want to be cured. Through receiving the Eucharist, Christ’s body, twice daily at Mass, Krystle just celebrated her 16th wedding anniversary, and has become completely free of alcohol, cigarettes, and Adderall.

For nothing will be impossible for God.
Luke 1:37
